The craft process on Rumah Rakuji is all handmade. From the tools for yarn preparation to weaving process. The tools that usually used are ATBM (non-machinal loom) and Gedogan (traditional back-strap loom).

Throughout generation and generation, natural dyes passed down and become a culture and history about identity. Natural dyes is one of our main focus, we do collaboration with Warlami (Perkumpulan Warna Alam Indonesia) to help us and our artisans to create natural dyes. We create homey color from around and eco friendly.
To achieve some colors, needs some research and experiences within years by years. Roots, leaves, bark, seeds, skin, etc, you name it, can be the main material of natural dyes.
Shade of Blue
from light blue to dark blue-ish color, is made from indigo leaves (Indigofera Tinctoria) through fermentation before used as dye.
Shade of Red
Red is the most hard and longest color to achieve from natural dyes. Red is made from the extract of morinda’s bark root. And it also need special treatment before dyeing with morinda’s
Shade of Brown
Brown-ish color is the most common color found in natural dyes, Brown can be made with many bark tree, roots and even leaves such as Mahogany bark, Ulin bark, Ketapang leaves, Jalawe ‘s skin, etc. The shade of brown color depends on the mordant or the fixator used, such as iron or alum.
Shades of Yellow
Shadow of yellow can be pursued by Tegeran bark wood, producing richness in yellow.
