Dayak Iban Tribe
Located in Desa Menua Sadap, Embaloh Hulu, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, This community producing Ibanese woven fabrics such as Sidan woven, Pileh woven, Ikat woven and also Sungkit woven.
There are around 30 artisans and now collaborated with Rumah Rakuji, produce mesmerizing woven from Dayak Iban tribe.
Margareta Bermas (Aya)
Mrs. Aya, born on 7th March 1990, a weaver from Dusun Kelayam, Desa Menua Sadap, Embaloh Hulu, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, has learned weaving since 24 years old. She learned it self-taught by observing her mother and grandmother. Her interest in weaving is because she wants to conserve her culture and tradition as valued by Dayak Iban’s ancestors.
Yuliana Hermina
Mrs. Yuliana Hermina, born on 19th June 1974, a mother of 2 daughters, Aya and Katarina , and a weaver from Dusun Kelayam, Desa Menua Sadap, Embaloh Hulu, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, has learned weaving since 14 years old. She learned it self-taught by observing other weavers.
Katarina
Miss Katarina Lawas, born on 25th December 1999, a weaver from Dusun Kelayam, Desa Menua Sadap, Embaloh Hulu, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, has learned weaving since 2015. She learned it self-taught by observing her mother. Her interest in weaving is because she wants to conserve her culture and tradition as valued by Dayak Iban’s ancestors.
Mala
Mrs. Mala, born on 24th May 1995, a weaver from Dusun Sadap, Desa Menua Sadap, Embaloh Hulu, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, she has learned weaving since 15 years old. She learned it from her mother. She learned to weave because she wants to conserve about her culture and tradition as valued by Dayak Iban’s ancestors.
