Rumah Rakuji with Warlami and Bank Indonesia have implemented the Kapuas Hulu Literature Development Program, Fostering Natural Colors of Bansa Iban in Dusun Kelayam, which was attended by 35 participants from 4 villages, : – Dusun Kelayam – Dusun Sadap – Dusun Kedungkang – Dusun Sungai Pelaik
This activity aims to strengthen and reintroduce natural coloring by highlighting local wisdom.
The first day of this activity began with an opening from relevant stakeholders, a basic introduction to natural colors accompanied by practice, and brainstorming regarding aesthetics and composition according to today’s market tastes. The second day continued with blue coloring practice, oil practice for red, yellow and brown color practice. The third day continued with making red, color stabilization and consolidation of the basic theory of natural color.
The results of this coaching activity will of course be woven into Pileh weaving, Sungkit weaving, Sidan weaving and Ikat weaving which will be exhibited at the Karya Kreatif Indonesia exhibition which will be held in early August.
Hopefully this program will be a revival in improving the quality of upstream Kapuas waste, through various collaborations and synergy to build a sustainable ecosystem.
