Development of Bansa Iban Weaving with Natural Dyes in Kedungkang
On March 12-14 2024, Rumah Rakuji visited Kedungkang, Sepandan Village in Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan to carry out training on natural dyeing for Bansa Iban weaving.
This training aims to reintroduce, familiarize and apply natural dyes to their weaving. This activity was attended by 23 weavers, the youngest was 18 years old, and the oldest was 63 years old.
The activity begins with a discussion and brainstorming process with the weavers, which is continued with an introduction to natural colored raw materials, and practice of natural colors, after which the colored threads will be woven into beautiful woven strands.
